New independent art space Galleria Myötä to open in Kallio in August

HELSINKI – Galleria Myötä, a new low-threshold art space and street-level gallery, will open in Kallio, Helsinki, in August 2026. The gallery provides a platform for bold, community-oriented, and contemporary art, with a particular focus on marginalized and alternative art. The gallery space also offers opportunities for small-scale cultural activities, such as workshops, clubs, and gatherings.

The gallery’s first exhibition is ITU by the art collective KIVA, which brings an immersive installation of live light and laser-cut plywood to Kallio.

“Galleria Myötä brings together all the lessons and sources of inspiration I’ve gathered throughout my life. I hope it will serve as an inviting space where people from all walks of life can draw inspiration for their own creativity, whether as visitors or artists,” explains the gallery’s founder, Rosaliina Ahvenjärvi.

Opening Reception: Friday, August 14, 2026, 5:00–8:00 p.m.

Exhibition hours: August 14–29, 2026. Mon–Fri 3–7 p.m., Sat–Sun 12–5 p.m. Free admission.
